FAQ Regarding Citizenship
The MEM Scholarship Program seeks to recognize the challenges and triumphs of individuals navigating complex legal frameworks while facilitating educational opportunities. If you are a graduating high school senior who has lived in Colorado or Washington for your full Junior and Senior years of high school and have started the process for citizenship, legal status, or lawful presence at the time of your application, please apply.
Within the application, you should select the status that most closely aligns with your process for applying for citizenship, legal status, or lawful presence to the best of your knowledge. In addition, applicants may include within their application essays or interview statements outlining their journey toward legal status and how this scholarship would impact their educational goals.
If you are selected to move to the semifinalist round or as a MEM Scholarship recipient, you will be asked to provide additional proof of an application or approval for citizenship, legal status, or lawful presence quarterly. MEM Scholars will collaborate with applicants or recipients to support documentation necessary to verify that the application is in process to obtain legal status or lawful presence.
